Spirit guide Botan intervenes, allowing Yuusuke to see how the people in his life react to his death he is moved by the emotional ruin his loss causes his mother, Keiko, and even Kuwabara. Filled with self-loathing and the burden of an alcoholic mother, Yuusuke sacrifices it all in a split-second decision-he tackles a small child out of the way of an oncoming car, losing his life in the process. Yuusuke regularly engages in street brawls against rival Kazuma Kuwabara and ridicules his childhood friend Keiko Yukimura. If King Enma was deposed, Yu Yu Hakusho wouldn't have much reason to continue.Fourteen-year-old thug Yuusuke Urameshi spends his days skipping school and causing trouble for the adults in his life. His role as Spirit Detective was only necessary because King Enma was abusing his power. He intentionally made the Yu Yu Hakusho manga ending in such a way that it would have been incredibly hard for him or anyone else to write more afterward, hence why the conclusion turns Yusuke into an unwitting pawn in an evil political plot. This led many readers to note that it felt rushed and even somewhat incomplete. All things considered, however, the only reason that Togashi kept making more chapters afterward was that he was being pressured by his publisher to do so - something not uncommon in the manga industry.Īs a new creator, Togashi felt he didn't have much room to negotiate or go against his publisher's wishes, which is why he ended up writing the "Three Kings Saga" after "Chapter Black." Even then, he ended up not giving the final Yu Yu Hakusho arc the same time and care that he gave the previous ones. ![]() Introducing Yusuke's demon ancestor, Raizen, would've created a gigantic loose thread in the narrative. Yusuke Urameshi was portrayed as a delinquent with a heart of gold, bravely fighting against evil demons and monsters. Fans were rather upset about Yu Yu Hakusho's ending, mainly due to how it affected the story in retrospect. As a result, Enma is ultimately ousted from his position by Koenma himself.įurthermore, King Enma would kidnap weaker demons and brainwash them into attacking humans to create "proof" that he was in the moral right. However, these were greedy and totalitarian actions taken by a corrupt ruler. ![]() This was in an effort to justify creating the barriers between the Human and Demon Worlds, as well as claiming territory, as necessary and noble acts of justice. Koenma's father Enma, who was king of the Spirit World, had been falsifying records about demons committing attacks on humans. In the manga, once the tournament that decides the new king of the Demon World is over, Koenma discovers that the Spirit World had been lying for centuries, if not millennia, about the danger of demons.
